Frequently Asked Questions

  • I do not bill insurance directly. This practice operates on a cash-based model to ensure that your care is determined by your clinical needs rather than the limitations of an insurance adjuster. By moving outside the traditional insurance system, I can offer the extended, unrushed sessions that true healing often requires.

  • I accept Cash, Check, Credit, Debit, HSA, and FSA cards.

  • Yes. I can provide you with a Superbill (a detailed medical receipt) upon request. Many clients submit these to their insurance providers for out-of-network reimbursement. While the eligibility and amount of reimbursement are dependent on your specific policy, most insurance companies provide partial reimbursement for OMT. I encourage you to check with your provider to see if you are eligible for reimbursement through a Superbill submission.

  • Because I reserve a significant block of time exclusively for your care—often up to three hours—I require a 30% commitment deposit at the time of booking. This deposit is not an additional fee; it is applied directly toward the total cost of your session. It represents our mutual commitment to the space and time we have set aside for your healing.

  • I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for any rescheduling or cancellations. This window allows me the opportunity to offer that spacious block of time to another client.

    • If you reschedule with more than 48 hours’ notice, your deposit remains on your account and will be applied to your future visit.

    • If you cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours’ notice, the deposit is forfeited. Please note that per IRS regulations, HSA and FSA funds generally cannot be used to pay for missed appointment fees.

  • The process of structural realignment is ongoing. Your body’s natural self-healing mechanisms continue to work long after you leave the table. While many people feel an immediate sense of lightness and ease, it is common to experience some "integration soreness" as your body adjusts to its new alignment. It is also important to note that even if you are still experiencing some discomfort when you first stand up from the table, it is both possible and probable that you will feel significant improvement in the coming days as your system settles.

Is there anything I should do post-treatment?

    • Hydrate: Drinking plenty of water both before and after your treatment is essential to support the metabolic shifts that occur during structural work.

    • The "Buffer" Time: Allow yourself a window of quiet time following your session. Please avoid high-intensity exercise or heavy lifting for the remainder of the day.

    • Physical Therapy: I view PT as an excellent partner to OMT, but the body needs time to integrate one before beginning the other. Ideally, you should have at least 48 hours between our session and a PT appointment. It is perfectly fine to see me after you have been to PT, but I do not recommend going to PT immediately after our work.

  • While many seek out Osteopathic care for musculoskeletal issues, OMT is a systemic intervention. Because it addresses the intersection of the nervous, circulatory, and musculoskeletal systems, its benefits extend to a wide range of conditions:

    • Pain & Structural Alignment: Chronic back and neck pain, sciatica, headaches, sports injuries, and post-surgical recovery.

    • Nervous System Regulation: Addressing the physiological markers of anxiety, depression, and chronic stress by shifting the body toward a restorative, parasympathetic state.

    • Respiratory & Circulatory Ease: Enhancing diaphragm function, supporting lymphatic drainage, and improving respiratory mechanics.

    • Digestive Health: Alleviating symptoms of IBS, constipation, and other digestive irregularities through visceral and autonomic support.

    • Women’s Health: Providing relief for menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) and perimenstrual breast tenderness.

    • Pregnancy Care: Easing the unique aches, pains, and postural shifts that occur during and after pregnancy.

    • Pediatrics: Offering gentle, non-invasive structural evaluation and care for infants and children.

This is by no means an exhaustive list; OMT is a tool for integration that supports the body’s global homeostatic balance.

  • Yes. If physical pain is due to the weakness of vital muscle groups or a lack of core strength, the hard work of physical therapy and strength training will be necessary for long-term improvement. I am happy to provide home exercises to aid in this process. I view Physical Therapy as an excellent partner to the work we do here; ideally, you should have a couple of days in between these different modalities. It is perfectly fine to see me after a PT session, but I do not recommend going to PT immediately after our work.

  • If you have a sudden injury and there is suspicion of a fracture or significant structural trauma, I will direct you to your primary care provider or an urgent care facility for imaging first. This ensures that OMT will be safe and effective before we begin our clinical work.

  • After an initial visit, I generally recommend a follow-up in approximately two weeks to re-evaluate and build on our progress. This interval provides us with the clinical "evidence" of how your system responded to the first treatment, allowing us to make an educated decision on the timing for future visits. For those seeking relaxation or integrative work, you may choose a frequency that feels right for you—the work can be used much like massage for simple enjoyment and stress relief.

  • Treatment generally feels great. While you may experience a sense of deep intensity or "active unwinding" as long-held tension is released—a feeling many clients describe as a deeply satisfying stretch—discomfort is never the goal. This work is a partnership; we move at the pace of your nervous system, ensuring every release feels productive rather than provocative. It is entirely possible to have a restorative session that feels amazing without any pain at all, depending on your clinical needs and personal preferences.

  • Yes. You are welcome to choose whichever location is most convenient for you or best suits the "atmosphere" you are looking for during a particular visit. Your records are securely maintained across both the Tacoma and Bonney Lake studios.
